Zero impressions — why your ads aren't showing
You launched a campaign, and after a day you see zero impressions. First: stay calm — that's normal. Eight common causes, ordered by likelihood.
Before changing anything: wait 24-72h
Amazon takes 1-3 days for a new campaign to enter the auction — the so-called learning phase. A brand-new campaign with zero impressions after 6 hours isn't broken — it's warming up. If after 72 hours nothing's running, walk through the list below.
1. Your bid is too low
Most common cause. Amazon shows a Suggested Bid Range when you select a keyword — e.g. $0.40-$1.20. If your bid is below the lower end (e.g. $0.15), you basically never win the auction.
Fix: Set your bid to the lower end of the Suggested Bid Range, watch for 48 hours, then adjust. With Sellerwerk, the keyword detail page shows how impressions develop after bid increases.
2. Your daily budget is too low
With $1 or $5 daily budget, Amazon burns it in the first hours — afterward your campaign is out of the auction for the rest of the day.
Fix:$20-50/day is a realistic starting budget. If you spent less than 50% of budget by end of day, budget isn't your problem — go to point 1 or 3.
3. Your product isn't Buy-Box-eligible
Amazon only shows ads for products that can win the Buy Box. If you list a product in poor condition, out of stock, or at a price far above market, Amazon can hide your ad entirely.
Fix:Go to Seller Central → Inventory → check if your product shows "In Buy Box" or a warning. On warning: review price, restock, complete the listing.
4. Your product has no reviews
A product with zero reviews rarely converts — and Amazon knows it. Even if you win the auction, Amazon shows your ad only in a few low-priority slots, or not at all.
Fix: If your product has fewer than 5 reviews, ads are hard. Focus on first organic sales and the Vine program (paid, but it gets you reviews). Profitable advertising usually starts at 15-20 reviews and a star rating of at least 4.0.
5. Your keyword is too generic or too specific
Too generic: bottle has tens of thousands of bidders and a very high CPC — you get pushed out. Too specific: stainless steel water bottle outdoor 1.5 liter bpa free sustainable usa may have 2 searches per month — zero impressions.
Fix: Use keywords with 3-5 words. See Match Types for the default structure (auto + phrase + exact). Sellerwerk shows in keyword research how many searches a keyword has per month.
6. You're bidding on the wrong match types
If you bid only on exact, many variation searches won't trigger your ad — e.g. plurals or typos. For a brand-new account without data, this is a frequent cause of zero impressions.
Fix: Start with phrase or broad for the first few days, then add exact. Match Types — when to use which explains the logic.
7. Your campaign is paused or scheduled out
Sounds trivial, happens often. Check campaign status in Amazon Seller Central. Common stumbles:
- Status = "Paused" instead of "Running".
- End date was yesterday.
- Start date is next week.
- Campaign scheduled for Mon-Fri only, you're looking on Sunday.
Fix:Check status, dates, schedule. Sellerwerk flags every campaign with status "Paused" in the dashboard, in case one was stopped accidentally.
8. Sponsored Brands or Sponsored Display without Brand Registry
Sponsored Products run for every seller. Sponsored Brands and Sponsored Display require a brand registered in the Amazon Brand Registry. If you launch a Sponsored Brands campaign without Brand Registry, Amazon will let you create it but won't deliver impressions.
Fix: Check Seller Central → Brand Registry to confirm your brand is registered. If not, apply (free, 1-2 weeks) or stick to Sponsored Products.
What Sellerwerk shows you here
Under Intelligence → Bleeding Spendyou see the opposite: campaigns spending money without converting. But the keyword detail view also shows "impressions per day" for the last 14 days — a flat line at zero tells you it's a delivery problem, not a performance problem.
We can'ttell you whether you've lost your Buy Box or whether your brand is registered — you check those in Seller Central directly. For everything else, the diagnosis path above covers it.
