Two-factor authentication (2FA)

Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds a layer of protection on top of your password. Even if someone learns your password, they can't get into your Sellerwerk account without the second factor — a 6-digit code from an authenticator app on your smartphone.

How to enable 2FA

  1. Go to Settings → Security and click Enable 2FA.
  2. Sellerwerk shows a QR code. Open your authenticator app (recommendations below) and scan the code. The app stores the Sellerwerk entry under the name Sellerwerk.
  3. Enter the 6-digit code your app generates into the confirmation field. Sellerwerk verifies the code and marks 2FA as active.
  4. Save the recovery codes securely (see below).

Which authenticator app should I use?

  • 1Password, Bitwarden, or similar password managers with built-in authenticator functionality — recommended because backup + multi-device sync work without an extra tool.
  • Aegis (Android) or Raivo (iOS) — open source, local, with backup export.
  • Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, Authy— all work, but proprietary. Authy historically had cloud-sync issues, but they're better today.

Sellerwerk uses standard TOTP (RFC 6238). Any app that supports TOTP works.

Recovery codes — please store securely

On activation you receive a list of recovery codes. You need them if your smartphone is lost or broken. Without recovery codes andwithout an authenticator, you can't access your account — Sellerwerk Support can't simply reset 2FA for security reasons.

  • Copy, download as TXT, or print — directly in the wizard.
  • Store the codes outside your smartphone: password manager note, printed in a safe, or in an encrypted backup.
  • Each code can be used once. Once used, it's consumed.
  • When you run out of codes or suspect they're compromised, you can generate new ones in Security settings — the old ones become invalid.

Login with 2FA active

After regular login with email + password, Sellerwerk asks for the 6-digit code from your authenticator app. If you don't have your phone handy, click Use recovery code and enter one of your stored recovery codes.

Disabling 2FA

Under Settings → Security you can turn 2FA off again. You need your current password to do this. Sellerwerk recommends keeping 2FA on — Sellerwerk accounts are often linked to your Amazon Ads account, and a compromised account can do a lot of damage.

What if I lost both my phone and my recovery codes?

Email support@sellerwerk.de with your account email. Sellerwerk verifies your identity via a multi-step process (e.g. confirming the stored payment method, access to the connected Amazon Ads account). This typically takes 24–48 hours — please plan that your account isn't reachable during that window.
